Animal Welfare Projects
For years the team of Art and Action Network in Greece has aimed to raise awareness over the animal welfare issues.
Elena Karagianni for years has been inspiring several initiatives to mobilize groups and individuals to save and adopt strays that have been either abandoned or abused. The AAN team has noticed a large gap in the local society’s education and therefore has tried to mobilize the school community to seize positive action. Apart from Elena’s volunteer work to save strays and urge individuals to adopt them, we have one more reason to feel proud; The “Students’ Action Group for animal protection”, an initiative started by former Vice – President of our organization, Christina Nomikou, one of the key founding members and beloved friend, has taught students how to cultivate skills and seize action when needed to raise awareness and inform both the school community and the local society for the prevention of animals’ abandonment, the protection of strays in local areas and the promotion of their adoption through organized groups and animal welfare organizations.
