Civic Participation

The Art and Action Network in Greece is a member of the Athens and Piraeus Integration Councils for Migrants and Refugees. 

These Councils are Consultative bodies to Municipal authorities and operate at a local level providing refugees and migrants with the opportunity to take part in decision – making procedures. 

The Councils have the following objectives:

• To map down the challenges that refugees and migrants face in their inclusion to the host society.
• To maintain a contact with the public administration and the municipal authority.
• To consult the municipal authority and develop local activities to promote social inclusion and acceptance. 
• To connect refugees and migrants that reside in the region with municipal services. 
• To organize along with the municipality events that raise awareness and empower social cohesion between newcomers and the host society.
